The bib short is one of the most important garments in your cycling wardrobe and therefore an important choice to make. Which one will you wear whilst riding the bike? It is the main point of contact with the saddle and a good bib short offers protection and comfort as the kilometers roll by.

Generally, in most conversations when talking about a bib short, the main point of reference is the chamois. Without denying that this is the most important product technology, we do believe that it is important to also take other variables into account. More things come into play when choosing a bib short such as the fabrics used, the design of the pattern, the type of construction, or particular details like the seamless bibs.

While the pad itself – and the level of protection it provides – is a key element in selecting the right garment, that is not the full story. The placement and preparation of the pad in the garment is at least as important. Protection must be targeted accurately, with the pelvis tilted correctly for efficient pedalling. We call this Precision & Movement.

Different riders will have different priorities, varying according to their morphology, their type of riding, style and budget. To make it easier to choose based on each garment’s individual characteristics, at Etxeondo we have grouped our shorts into four distinct families.

A complete, all-round tight cut from Thermosystem Termika, a thermoregulatory fabric that offers exceptional protection from the cold.

ORHI HYDRO TIGHTS

These tights are ideal for winter rides where you want that extra protection against the rain and the spray coming from the wet roads. Starting with the ORHI tights as a base and applying the Thermosystem Hydrorepellent fabric, makes this product comfortable and protective; the fabric acts as a thermoregulator and has water-repellent properties.

ORHI HYDRO SHORTS

Thermal shorts for foul weather rides. The choice of for the Spring Classics and cold, wet days in the peloton. Cut from Thermosystem Hydro-repellent, the fabric is not just warm but also water resistant. By combining Ibai with our matching Ibai legwarmer, you can effectively create a full winter tight.

ORHI DYNEEMA TIGHTS

For riders who mix road riding with MTB or gravel, the Rali shorts are a perfect option. Based on Orhi, but with added Dyneema technology panels providing a high level of resistance to abrasion on exposed areas around the hips in the event of a fall. Dyneema is used by the professional riders in training and competition.

ENDURANCE TIGHTS

Our Endurance range is aimed at optimizing comfort and protection for those who spend long hours in the saddle. Riders whose simple passion for cycling inspires them to challenge themselves on epic routes or simply enjoy discovering new places with their friends. All our Endurance range is based around the Exo model, easily identified by a silver label on the right side.

These tights have different characteristics, with a more subtle level of compression compared to the tights from the PRO category. Suitable for those cyclists who prioritize comfort over performance.

Eraso Pad

All our Endurance models use the Eraso pad. Eraso is cut a little wider than its Urraki cousin, aimed at reinforcing support and protection of the ischia. Recreational and endurance cyclists often have a more relaxed position on the bike as they focus on long distance comfort.

With the handebars perhaps set a little higher, the rider’s weight shifts further back on the seat, increasing the pressure in that area. Eraso places protection where you need it most, keeping you comfortable as the kilometres tick by.

Made with a Gore-Tex Infinium membrane, Gamu is constructed without a pad and designed to be worn over the top of your favourite Etxeondo shorts, providing an extra layer of protection from the elements. Gamu can also be a useful ally for cooler days in the high mountains; it’s packability means it can be carried in the back pocket on the climbs and worn for extra protection on the descents.
